The North Hills School District will play host to its 47th annual “Arts Alive” event celebrating the creative accomplishments of students in kindergarten through high school from 5 to 9 p.m. on Friday, May 3.

The free event features student work in a variety of mediums including pottery, paintings, drawings, sculpture, photographs, school publications and writing projects.

The event also will feature work by students in the family and consumer science and technology education departments and performances from the music department throughout the evening.

“Arts Alive is a celebration of our students’ talents and creativity,” said Superintendent Patrick Mannarino. “This annual event provides an excellent opportunity for our community to experience the many opportunities available within North Hills School District.”

This year’s event includes:

• Artwork from all elementary students in grades four to six.

• Hands-on art making activities from 7 to 8 p.m. for elementary students in kindergarten through 3rd grade.

• North Hills Game Fest showcasing board games and video games created by district students.

• A selection of artwork from seventh- and eighth-grade classes and the district’s new eighth-grade art elective Digital Fabrication.

• An array of culinary options from the World Language Department that will be served to guests.

• An art gallery style event in the high school rotunda featuring pottery, photographic and film demonstrations. The artwork that is created will be available for purchase.

Coffee Buddha will be on hand to serve coffee, espresso, hot cocoa and other beverages from 5 to 7 p.m. in the high school lobby in exchange for a donation to the district’s art department.
