A Crescent Township resident shot and killed a man who forced his way into a home overnight, Allegheny County police said.
The victim is Corey Laguardia, 22, of Hopewell, according to the medical examiner’s office.
Homicide detectives responded to the call just after midnight from a home in the 1000 block of Starr Road.
According to police, Laguardia went to the home, knocked on the door and asked if another person was there.
The homeowner, a 59-year-old man, told Laguardia that the person did not live at the residence and then shut and locked the door, Sgt. Venerando Costa wrote in a press release. The homeowner was not identified.
Police said Laguardia forced his way in, and the homeowner shot him multiple times with a handgun. Officers found Laguardia inside the doorway where he was pronounced dead.
No charges have been filed at this point against the homeowner, police said.
District Attorney Stephen Zappala’s office will make a determination on the case when the evidence is submitted.
