A developer wants to construct an apartment building along Old William Penn Highway in Monroeville just around the corner from the construction site of a similar apartment complex.
A.R. Building, the same developer responsible for a 92-unit apartment building along Evergreen Drive, has asked council to rezone property from commercial to residential in order to build a four-story building with about 120 units.
If approved, the apartment would be located along Old William Penn Highway, near Duff Road and Evergreen Drive, where construction has started by the same company for a similar apartment building.
It would be A.R.’s third development in Monroeville, with another located along Fox Plan Road. Construction on Fox Plan’s 112-unit building is expected to start in August, said Jason Kambitsis, director of land development for A.R. Building.
Kambitsis has said all three apartment buildings will not exceed four stories.
Monroeville council will vote on rezoning the nearly eight-acre property on July 9. The planning commission recommended approval at its May 15 meeting.
