Feeding time at the James Sharp Landing

Sharpsburg resident Jennifer Daniels took time Tuesday morning with her daughter, Cheyenne Galford, to feed the ducks swimming in the Allegheny River at the James Sharp Landing along 13th Street.
Daniels is a lifelong resident of the borough and said the summer spot has changed dramatically since she was a child.
“It used to be all dirt and rocks,” she said. “I wasn’t even allowed down here.”
Since the borough has poured money into improvements at the boat dock, Daniels said she brings her 8-month-old baby frequently to sit under the gazebo, watch boaters and enjoy the amenities.
The pair have even named some of the ducks, with Daniels saying she recognizes many that have returned from previous years. On Tuesday, there were at least 30 floating on the water, waiting for her to toss bread their way.
“It’s really nice now and I think more and more people are enjoying it,” she said.
