Heavy rains flooded roads and downed trees across Westmoreland County Wednesday evening.

The National Weather Service in Pittsburgh issued a flood advisory for the area around 7:35 p.m.

The most severe flooding was in Trafford, according to Westmoreland County 911.

Route 993 and Trafford Road and Pine Hollow Road were all shut down around 8 p.m. because of high water.

Water rescue crews were on standby, but had not been called out as of 8:45 p.m.

By then the storm had moved on from that area and water levels started to recede, 911 officials said.

Central Westmoreland County, including Greensburg, New Stanton and Latrobe, remained under a flood advisory until 11:30 p.m.
