In this Sept. 16, 2012, file photo, Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Ike Taylor covers New York Jets wide receiver Santonio Holmes during the first quarter of an NFL football game in Pittsburgh. Taylor announced his retirement Tuesday, April 14, 2015, ending a 12-year career in which he helped lead the Steelers to two Super Bowl victories.

In Monday’s “First Call,” Ike Taylor’s head-scratching revelation about listening to music during games. Antonio Brown wants to be a movie screenwriter when he grows up. And a preview of the Pittsburgh Penguins-Philadelphia Flyers game Tuesday.

This is what they teach you at “Swaggin’ U?”

Former Steelers cornerback Ike Taylor always danced to the beat of his own drummer.

What we didn’t know is that the beat was often being pumped into his helmet during games.

Taylor recently claimed on the “Surf and Turf” podcast — with former teammate Willie Colon — that he used to have his iPod in his ears, under his helmet during games.

If the story is true, maybe this is part of the reason why the Steelers have for so long talked about “communication problems” in the secondary.

However, Taylor insists the music wasn’t a problem because only hand signals were used in the Steelers secondary.

Taylor said his music of choice was Lil’ Wayne, but he usually listened to whatever was on Pandora.

He claims he did this during his last three years in the NFL.

So I guess we can’t blame the infamous Demaryius Thomas playoff touchdown on Ike being more focused on music than the play call.

After all, Taylor retired in 2015 and that happened at the end of the 2011 season.

Maybe that’s why Taylor started listening to music during games. Perhaps he got tired of hearing the roar of the opposing crowd when receivers beat him for touchdowns.

And the Academy Award for best original screenplay goes to…

Antonio Brown??!!

For “The Theo Story.”

Yes, believe it or not, Brown says he wants to try his hand at screenwriting. And he wants his debut film to be about his cameraman, Theo.

He was apparently shot last year.

Intriguing plot, A.B. We will “stay Tune.”

I’m very interested to see how you map out the dialogue. Can you work the phrase “experteralism” into your script?

Take one for the team

Ballpark beers are expensive. So you should protect them at all costs. Even if it means putting yourself in harm’s way.

Just look at this guy in Washington during Game 5 of the World Series. He preferred to get hit by Yordan Alvarez’s home run than drop either of his brews.

That’s dedication.

The Houston Astros won 7-1 behind another strong start from former Pirate Gerrit Cole. He allowed only one run in seven innings and totaled nine strikeouts. Houston has a 3-2 series lead.

They can clinch the title Tuesday night back home in Houston.

Rivalry renewed

The Penguins and Flyers faceoff Tuesday at PPG Paints Arena.

The Penguins will come in at 7-5 after a road trip that saw them lose twice in Florida to the Panthers and Tampa Bay Lightning. But they did win the last game of the southern swing by blanking the Dallas Stars 3-0.

As for the Flyers (5-4-1), they are coming off a high-scoring weekend in which they won 7-4 Saturday at home against the Columbus Blue Jackets. But they lost 5-3 Sunday to the New York Islanders.

Center Travis Konecny had a goal in each game. He leads the Flyers in scoring with 13 points..

Right now, Philly is averaging 3.5 goals per game. That’s seventh best in the NHL. Their power play is clicking at 26.3%. That’s tied with Montreal for fifth best in the league.

Near-perfect Panthers

The Pitt women’s volleyball may become the top-rated team in the nation.

They won twice over the weekend, sweeping both Notre Dame and Louisville.

The Panthers entered the weekend ranked third in the country. With those two victories, they have improved to 21-1. And both teams who were rated ahead of them lost within the last week.

Top-rated Baylor (17-1) fell to No. 4 Texas 3-1 on Wednesday. And UCLA defeated No. 2 Stanford 3-0 on Saturday.

So we’ll see if that is enough to get Pitt atop the rankings this week.
