Buffalo Township residents would not pay more in township real estate taxes next year under a preliminary budget approved Wednesday.
Supervisors approved a preliminary $2.5 million budget that would keep the tax rate at 5.5 mills. Spending would increase by about $196,000, according to the budget.
A homeowner with the average assessed property value of $20,760 would pay $114 in taxes.
The largest expense in the proposed budget is $620,000 for police department expenses, including wages.
Nearly $543,000 would be spent on the public works department and $84,000 would be donated to the fire department.
Buffalo Township expects $295,000 in state liquid fuels money, which can be used to maintain township roads.
Supervisors said the preliminary budget will be on display at the township building for 20 days. A final vote on the budget is scheduled for Dec. 11.
