A man was injured Monday night when his car crashed over a curb and nearly struck a utility pole in Plum, officials said.

Shortly after 6 p.m., the man was driving a gray sedan on Unity Trestle Road near Universal Road heading toward Leechburg Road and failed to make a turn, Plum police said. The car jumped a curb and narrowly missed hitting a pole.

Medics took the driver to a nearby hospital, an Allegheny County 911 shift commander said.

The man was not identified. The extent of his injuries was unclear.

The incident backed up traffic in the surrounding area in both directions near Unity Trestle and Universal roads.

Officials towed away the man’s vehicle and reopened the road about 6:40 p.m.

Plum police are investigating.
