A man walking in Pittsburgh’s Troy Hill neighborhood was struck Friday night by an SUV in a hit-and-run incident, officials said.

Pittsburgh police, firefighters and medics responded to the report of the pedestrian injured by a vehicle on Troy Hill Road near Goettman Street at about 6 p.m., Public Safety spokesman Chris Togneri said.

The injured man, 63, was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was listed in stable condition, Togneri said. His name was not released.

The initial investigation indicates that when the dark SUV first struck the man, he stopped briefly and indicated that he was going to pull over to the side of the road, Togneri said. Instead, the male driver got back into his vehicle and drove away before police arrived.

Officials did not provide a description of the suspect.

No arrests had been made as of shortly after 10 p.m. Friday.

Officials asked anyone with information about the incident to call Pittsburgh’s Zone 1 detectives at 412-323-7201.
