A 39-year-old man died Sunday after he was shot outside a Braddock club that morning, authorities said.

The Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victim as Jason Lewis of Pittsburgh.

The shooting was reported about 3:50 a.m. at the Sahara Temple on Seventh Street, Allegheny County police said.

When Braddock police and paramedics arrived, they learned the man had been taken to a hospital by a private vehicle. He was listed in critical condition Sunday at UPMC Presbyterian but died shortly after noon, according to authorities.

Allegheny County police homicide detectives said the victim was at the club with a male friend, who became involved in a minor verbal dispute with a woman inside the club.

Police said the victim’s friend left the club and walked to his car. He texted the victim to see where he was and heard gunshots.

Detectives were reviewing video from the club and attempting to identify additional witnesses.

Anyone with information concerning the shooting is asked to call the Allegheny County police tipline at 1-833-ALL-TIPS (1-833-255-8477).
