Duquesne men’s basketball team rallies, edges VCU in overtime

RICHMOND, Va. — Tavian Dunn-Martin had 23 points as Duquesne defeated VCU, 80-77, in overtime on Tuesday night.
Marcus Weathers had 16 points and nine rebounds for Duquesne (21-8, 11-6 Atlantic 10 Conference). Michael Hughes added 14 points and eight rebounds. Sincere Carry had seven assists and six rebounds.
Baylee Steele, who only scored four points, made a tiebreaking 3-pointer with just under two minutes left in overtime. Marcus Santos-Silva had a layup for VCU to cut the lead to one, but Weathers made two free throws with 19 seconds left, and Nah’Shon Hyland missed a 3-pointer at the buzzer.
The Dukes have won three games in a row, including two in overtime.
Duquesne finishes the regular season against Richmond on Friday at home.
Lamar Norman Jr. scored on a drive to tie the score with 5.6 seconds left in regulation before Hyland missed a 3-pointer.
Marcus Santos-Silva had 24 points and eight rebounds for the Rams (18-12, 8-9). Nah’Shon Hyland added 13 points as did Issac Vann. Mike’L Simms scored 10 points.
