The Monroeville Area Chamber of Commerce has asked the business community to show support to Gateway seniors whose last year in high school has been disrupted by the covid-19 pandemic.

The MACC is urging businesses to hang signs proclaiming “We Support Gateway Seniors Class of 2020” in windows starting May 1 for at least a week.

The chamber of commerce created an image that can be downloaded. Access it here.

Gateway School District’s buildings, like all educational buildings in Pennsylvania, have been closed since March 16. Gov. Tom Wolf ordered they remain closed through the school year.

The school district has since canceled its spring musical, prom (originally scheduled for May 8) and the senior awards banquet. Though it is still scheduled for May 27 at the Antimarino Stadium, senior graduation ceremony could be rescheduled to June 25.
