Permanent speed humps will be installed on Grandview Avenue in Pittsburgh’s Mt. Washington neighborhood, the city’s Department of Mobility and Infrastructure announced Saturday.
Speed and volume data found that 61% of motorists traveled over the speed limit of 25 miles per hour on the road, according to a news release.
Temporary rubber speed humps were installed in fall 2019 and monitored for three months before they were removed in January. Data collected during that period shows that speeding was reduced to 32%.
Construction on the speed humps is expected to begin Monday. Officials say it should last one or two days, weather permitting. Hours of construction will be 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Alternating traffic will be maintained and temporary no parking signage may be posted.
