Westmoreland County saw 19 new cases of covid-19 added to its total Saturday, the Pennsylvania Department of Health reported, with one additional death.

It’s the first time since May 5-6 that Westmoreland County has had back-to-back days of new deaths from the novel coronavirus.

The county’s death toll now stands at 43.

The county has reported less than 20 new cases five out of the past eight days. In the first 17 days of July, there were only two days that saw less than 20 new cases added.

The newest batch of cases reflect three probable cases.

The new cases make a total of 1,271 cases in the county since the new virus was first reported there March 20. Of those cases, 1,234 are confirmed, 37 are probable.

A little more than 26,700 people in Westmoreland County have tested negative for the virus, for a positivity rate of 4.75%.
