Westmoreland County saw 13 new cases of covid-19 added to its total Saturday, the Pennsylvania Department of Health reported.

No additional deaths were reported, leaving the death toll at 49, where it has remained for the past 10 days.

The county last reported a death from the virus on Aug. 19. There have been three deaths attributed to covid-19 in the county in August.

The county’s total cases are now 1,802. The seven-day average for the county is 12 cases.

The county posted a high of 15 new cases on back-to-back days this week — Wednesday and Thursday. Tuesday was the week’s low of 8.

Throughout the month of August, Westmoreland County has reported more than 20 new cases only once, when it reported 23 on Aug. 8.

By contrast, in July, the county recorded 20 or more cases 23 times — nine of which were 30 or more cases.
