Allegheny County on Saturday recorded 174 new coronavirus cases.
No new deaths were reported. In addition, a death reported last week has been transferred to Greene County’s statistics, reducing Allegheny’s total to 434.
Interestingly, the spike in cases throughout the county hasn’t meant a spike in deaths. October’s total of 52 matches September’s.
The county now has accumulated 15,796 cases of covid-19, according to data from the Allegheny County Health Department.
Of the new cases, 125 are confirmed, while 49 are listed as probable.
The recent batch of samples comprising 1,580 tests were collected from Oct. 17 through Friday.
They yielded a positivity rate of about 11%.
Five new hospitalizations were reported. Officials say 1,453 people have been hospitalized since the virus was first reported in Allegheny County on March 14.
Saturday’s cases range in age from 10 months to 92 years, with a median of 35 years old.
Through the entirety of October, the county has seen 3,448 new cases of the virus; an increase of 72.3% from September (2,001).
Allegheny County has posted triple-digit case numbers 19 times this month; in September, it happened only three times.
