Crash outside Squirrel Hill Tunnel along Parkway East cleared

Traffic exiting the Squirrel Hill Tunnels along the Parkway East is moving slowly this morning after a vehicle crashed into a utility pole and flipped onto its roof. The pole fell across the highway, which forced two of the three outbound lanes to be shut down while crews worked to clear the scene.

All outbound lanes of the Parkway East are open after a crash shut down the highway Thursday morning.

A vehicle crashed into a utility pole and flipped onto its roof, according to PennDOT. The impact caused the utility pole to fall across two of the three eastbound lanes.

All traffic exiting the tunnel was stopped for a short period about 10:40 a.m. while emergency responders cleared the scene.

State police said there were no immediate reports of injuries.
