Westmoreland County Commissioner Sean Kertes is at home recovering from a blood clot in his lung that he said was related to his recent coronavirus infection. He was hospitalized over the weekend after having difficulty breathing.
Kertes told the Tribune-Review he hopes to be back at the Greensburg courthouse next week.
In a post on his Facebook page, Kertes said he was admitted to Excela Westmoreland Hospital on Sunday evening. That is where the blood clot was discovered.
Kertes was among several county officials who were diagnosed with covid-19 last month. He tested positive after suffering a mild fever but recovered without incident. He referred to that diagnosis in his statement.
“It seems that blood clots are one of the side effects of covid-19,” Kertes wrote. “I am 34, healthy and experienced mild symptoms originally. So, if this can happen to me, it can happen to anyone.”
