Allegheny County reports 8 covid deaths, including a person in their 20s

Allegheny County reported eight additional covid deaths Tuesday, one of which was an individual in their 20s, according to the county Health Department.

In addition to the person in their 20s, the age breakdown of new covid-related deaths was a person in their 50s, two in their 60s, two in their 80s and two in the 90s. The Health Department said that no further information on the person in their 20s was available.

Dates of death ranged from Dec. 29 to Sunday, with the county noting three deaths were from December. Three of the eight deaths were associated with long-term care facilities.

Total deaths in the county are now 1,462.

Covid hospitalizations were 304 as of Tuesday, down from 313 patients on Monday.

There were 300 additional covid-19 cases reported Tuesday, as well, bringing total cases 69,837.

New cases range in age from 3 to 97, with a median age of 41 years. Dates of positive tests range from Dec. 13 to Monday. The county Health Department noted that one positive test was from December and 26 tests are more than a week old.

Of the newly reported cases, 153 are confirmed and 147 probable.
