A Harrison man previously accused of stealing two vehicles from two township businesses earlier this month now faces charges in connection with a burglary the same day at a third township business.

Harrison police on Wednesday charged Mark A. Bauer, 60, with burglary, trespassing, receiving stolen property and mischief in connection with the July 9 incident at Gold-N-Gals on Freeport Road.

Bauer was arrested that day after police said he stole a GMC Sierra pickup from Ekas Auto and a Pontiac Torrent SUV from Auto Rama in the morning. The businesses are about a half-mile apart on Freeport Road.

He was ordered Wednesday to stand trial on charges including receiving stolen property, burglary, trespassing and theft in connection with that case. He is being held without bail in Allegheny County Jail.

In a criminal complaint filed against Bauer, police said they found the GMC Sierra that had been reported stolen parked in a suspicious manner behind Gold-N-Gals.

Subsequently, police said they responded to Gold-N-Gals, a store that buys and sells jewelry, and found an open door with damage that appeared to be from someone forcing their way into a storage building connected to the business.

A complaint said surveillance footage from the store showed a man identified by police as Bauer carrying items from the storage building to a nearby vehicle.

The store owner told police that missing items included a 12-foot ladder, a portable air conditioner, fluorescent light bulbs and sports equipment, the complaint said.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 28 in connection with the latest case, according to online court records, which did not list an attorney for Bauer.
