Plum Borough Community Library is a place to rock.

That notion will be readily visible Aug. 24 with the return of the library’s Concert on the Concrete series.

People of all ages are encouraged to bring a lawn chair or blanket for the event.

Plum native and multi-instrumentalist and composer Dan Styslinger is scheduled to perform in the parking lot at 6:30 p.m.

Sweets for the Street will have ice cream available for purchase starting at 4 p.m.

A music-themed scavenger hunt for children is also planned. They can win a prize if they find all the items in front of the building at 445 Center-New Texas Road.

Registration is recommended but not required. Parking will be available in the nearby senior center lot.

“We want to keep people safe and socially distanced,” said program coordinator Pamela Bishop Fauls. “We want people to bring their own chairs. We’re optimistic (about the turnout), and we’re looking forward to Dan coming back to Plum.”

Many of the library’s in-person events were canceled for more than a year due to the pandemic.

It hosted a similar concert in June with the Plum High School orchestra, but it was rained out after a few songs.

Fauls said the outdoor concerts are a way to provide a fun, free way for the community to come together while raising awareness about the library.

“We’re hoping the weather cooperates with us,” she said.
