Kiski Township police said they fielded calls regarding the same Apollo man twice over the weekend for public intoxication, possession of suspected illegal drugs and other charges.

Douglas E. Laedlein of Apollo is facing charges of criminal trespass, loitering and prowling at night, possession of controlled substances and public drunkenness.

Police were alerted to a man stumbling on Isabella Avenue in Kiski Township and onto private property during a children’s birthday party Saturday.

The man, identified as Laedlein, went into a nearby residence where police spoke to him. Police said Laedlein told them he had taken Xanax and smoked methamphetamine. They say he agreed to a search of the house. Police found a white powdery substance they believed to be meth.

Police believed Laedlein needed medical attention and planned to send him a summons for public drunkenness, Kiski Township Police Sgt. Thomas Dessell said.

Then on Sunday, Kiski Township police responded to a report of a shirtless man bent over dancing on Isabella Avenue.

Police recognized the man as Laedlein.

Police took Laedlein into custody for public drunkenness. They began to search him and said they found 38 purple glycerine bags believed to contain heroin.

Residents approached police and told them Laedlein has broken into a home along Isabella Avenue. Laedlein told police he needed a place to stay so he forced open one of the house’s windows.

He was arraigned Monday and taken to Armstrong County Jail, unable to post the $7,500 bond. His preliminary hearing had not yet been set as of Tuesday afternoon.
