Two teens were arrested in connection with vehicle break-ins in Bethel Park.
Peyton Brooks, 18, of South Park and a 16-year-old boy were charged with theft from a motor vehicle, theft, conspiracy, criminal attempt and loitering and prowling at night.
Charges stem from an incident early Oct. 26 near the intersection of Broughton and Baptist roads.
Police posted on the department’s Facebook page video footage of two suspects walking in the area with one opening and rummaging through a dark-colored vehicle.
Detective Sean Gorman said the boy’s charges were filed in Juvenile Court.
Both teens are suspected to have been involved in numerous thefts including some in Whitehall, South Fayette, Ross and Scott townships.
Gorman said they were apprehended through cooperative efforts with those police departments.
Police said the boy was caught Oct. 30 by Ross police while in possession of a stolen handgun.
Brooks was arrested Monday on a warrant from Scott police, Gorman said.
Second break-in arrests in 2 weeks
This is the second set of arrests for Bethel Park vehicle break-ins within as many weeks.
Charles Trout, 30, of Pittsburgh and Nicholas Ehrhart, 36, of Butler were recently charged with receiving stolen property, conspiracy, theft from a motor vehicle, criminal attempt, loitering and prowling at night and defiant trespass.
Their charges stem from incidents in the Oakhurst neighborhood, specifically Graeser Avenue, Church Road, Greenwald Road and Carlton Road on Oct. 7.
Video footage from that day was also posted on the police Facebook page.
