Pennsylvania State Police said a 58-year-old Apollo man was stalking a Vandergrift woman through a tracking device hidden on her vehicle, according to court records.
Ronald D. Roessler was arrested and arraigned on two counts of stalking and single charges of loitering, prowling and tampering with evidence, according to state police at Kiski.
The woman went to police after she began receiving alerts on her cellphone late last week that an “AirTag” device was tracking her and she does not own one, according to Trooper Jason Kinger.
Kinger said an examination of the her vehicle discovered the device was attached to the inside of a metal trailer hitch.
Further investigation revealed Roessler owned the device, Kinger said.
The woman has a protection from abuse order against him, troopers said.
When troopers questioned Roessler “he denied his involvement and claimed it was all a mistake,” Kinger said.
When troopers asked to examine his cellphone, Kinger said they observed Roessler delete the tracking app off his phone before he turned it over.
Roessler was arraigned and released on $10,000 bond pending a preliminary hearing Feb. 22, according to court dockets.
According to online court dockets, Roessler has no prior arrests in Pennsylvania. He did not have an attorney listed in court dockets.
