Mother and daughter artists from Indiana County are showing their work in “A Little Bit of Everything,” a joint exhibition that opened Friday at the Latrobe Art Center.

The title reflects the content she supplied, said Jolene Joyner of Clymer, who is showing with her daughter, Jonelle Summerfield of Indiana.

“They’re odds and ends that were sitting around the house,” Joyner said during the opening reception. “You walk into a room and bump one painting and a lot of them fall down. So it was time to sell some.”

That’s a modest way to describe the paintings that line the gallery wall, including rural scenes, cats, still lifes, and scenes from European travels and visits to beaches.

For her part, Summerfield said the title refers to her current inspirations. Where she used to work in themed series, lately she’s been painting whatever subject happens to move her. Her work also includes European scenes, animals and still lifes, along with interiors and street scenes.

Michael Tusay, the center’s executive director, said that knowing the artists’ relationship, he was intrigued by looking for both similarities and differences in their styles and subject matters.

Joyner and Summerfield had a joint show last year at the Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art at Ligonier Valley. They’ve also shown together at the Artists Hand Gallery and Espresso Bar in Indiana and in a group show at Greensburg Art Center. They also show separately around the area.

“A Little Bit of Everything” continues at the center through March 26. Prices on the featured works range from $150 to $1,100.

Seen at the opening: Luke Summerfield, Bill and Peg Panasiti, Vince and Sue Hrubes, David and Janet Seremet, David J. Kindl, Anthony DiVittis, Carole Steele, Tim and Barb King, Chuck and Diane Boyer and center staffers Joe Bellack and Janet Mason.
