A shooting overnight Friday left one person dead in Pittsburgh’s Knoxville neighborhood, authorities said.

Zone 3 police officers on patrol near Brownsville Road and Bausman Street heard gunshots around 2:45 a.m., said police spokeswoman Amanda Mueller.

Officers found one man who’d been shot in the head, Mueller said. He was pronounced dead a short time later at the hospital. The Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s office identified him as Willis Brooks, 30, of Duquesne.

Authorities did not indicate whether there were any witnesses or suspects.
