Caroling at Boyce Park
Christmas caroling with the Masterworks Concert Chorale is scheduled for 2 to 3 p.m. Dec. 17 at the Carpenter Log House at Boyce Park, 721 Pierson Run Road in Plum.
There is no cost to attend, and visitors can tour the log house and visit with Santa.
Christmas concert
Kerr Presbyterian Church is hosting a Christmas concert by Suzy and Bryon Chertik on Dec. 17 at 157 Bridge St., Penn Hills.
Dinner will be served at 6 p.m. and music is at 7. Call 412-793-5508 to make a reservation.
GOP Christmas gathering
Plum Borough Republican Committee will hold a Christmas gathering from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Dec. 16 at Palmieri’s Restaurant, 951 Old Frankstown Road, Plum.
The guest speaker is state Rep. Natalie Mihalek, R-40th District, a U.S. Navy veteran who will be serving her third term in the House.
Cost is $25 per person. Food and beverage items include dinner buffet, soft drinks, desserts and cash bar. Checks can be made payable to PBRC.

Holy Family Parish Christmas brunch
Holy Family Parish in Oakmont, Plum and Verona will host a Christmas brunch on Dec. 25.
The free brunch will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at one of two parish locations: St. Joseph Church Hall, 825 Second Street, Verona; Our Lady of Joy Church Hall, 2000 O’Block Road, Plum.

American Legion Oratorical Program
The Pennsylvania American Legion is accepting submissions for its 2023 Oratorical Program Contest, which awards annual scholarships of $7,500 (first place), $5,000 (second) and $4,000 (third). This year’s contest will take place Jan. 5.
Students wishing to participate must notify their local hometown Legion post by Dec. 20. Rules and regulations are posted at PA-Legion.com under Student Programs. For more information, email District 31 Oratorical Chair Jim Drnjevich at jgdrnjevich@aol.com.
Rotary scholarships
The Bob Williams Rotary Memorial Scholarship Program has scholarships available for the 2022-2023 academic year. In recent years, at least eight scholarships at $5,000 each have been awarded. High school seniors in Allegheny and Beaver Counties are eligible to apply. Vocational students, G.E.D students and those attending parochial, charter and private schools are also eligible.
Students must have a 2.5 or higher grade point average and also must complete an essay, which highlights their community/school service, as part of the application submission.
