Plum GOP hosts Senate leader

The Plum Borough Republican Committee is hosting a spring dinner at 6:30 p.m. March 30 at Palmieri’s Restaurant, 951 Old Frankstown Road, Plum.

Keynote speaker is Pennsylvania Senate Majority Leader Joe Pittman. A buffet dinner plus coffee, drinks and dessert is $40. The event will have a cash bar.

Oakmont Elks fish fry

The Oakmont Elks Lenten fish fry runs from 3 to 7 p.m. on Fridays through April 7. Only takeout is available.

Featured are jumbo beer-battered cod with Mancini’s rolls, baked cod loins or breaded shrimp dinners, including french fries and coleslaw, for $15. Homemade haluski, macaroni and cheese, and fish sandwiches are available à la carte.

Phone orders begin strictly at noon each Friday by calling 412-828-1668 or 412-508-5966. Pickup is at 106 Washington Ave. in Oakmont.

Oakmont, Verona bus service provided

Riverview Community Action Corp. provides bus service for all Oakmont and Verona Residents to places in both boroughs, such as grocery stores, doctors’ offices and restaurants.

Bus service is available from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday, and the cost is $2 each way. Reservations must be made 24 hours in advance by calling 412-828-1062. Currently, only four people are allowed on the bus at a time, and no one will be picked up without reservations.

Senior driver course offered

Seniors For Safe Driving is offering senior citizen driver improvement courses to help motorists understand how aging affects driving abilities and prove insight about navigating today’s roads.

The PennDOT-approved courses are designed for drivers age 55 and older, and include no testing or behind-the-wheel driving. As mandated by Pennsylvania law, those who complete the courses receive a multi-year discount on auto insurance.

A course is scheduled for 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. March 24 at Forbes Hospital Learning Room #1, 2570 Haymaker Road, Monroeville. To register, call 1-800-559-4880 or 724-283-0245, or visit www.seniorsforsafedriving.com.

Boxing returns to Murrsyville

A night of boxing matches will return to the Murrysville SportZone Arena on March 25.

“Murrysville Madness IV” will feature Mike Conway fighting for the ABA Lightweight title as well as local fighters Eric Lomax, Tyler Ainscough, Andre Donovan, Mary Casamassa, Colleen Davis and Paul Palombo.

Doors open at 6 p.m., and the first bell will ring at 7. Tickets are $30 for stadium seating, $50 for floor seating and $100 for ringside seating. Tables of eight are available for $800.
