It’s good to be in the Pro Football Hall of Fame, but there’s an even higher hall of fame to aspire to.
That was the message from guest speaker David Baker to attendees at the Good Friday Prayer Breakfast, hosted by the Greensburg Christian Business Men’s Connection on April 7 at Stratigos Banquet Center in North Huntingdon.
Baker is the former president and CEO of the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio. Now making his home in Orange County, Calif., he was accompanied at the event by his wife, Colleen Baker.
While getting a spot at Canton is great, Baker said, “the best place to be is in God’s hall of fame for all eternity.”
Baker’s talk also touched on certain attributes of greatness as they relate to football — unity, preparation, competition and fighting against adversity.
Prior to giving the invocation, CBMC Area Director Mike Arnold of Wexford said the program “combines two things I love dearly — football and Jesus.”
Arnold noted that this was the 49th year for the Greensburg prayer breakfast and its success has inspired other area CBMC groups to start their own breakfasts.
Founded in 1930, the organization connects business and professional men through Christian peer groups and one-on-one mentoring. It has more than 700 local groups across the United States and around the world.
Breakfast attendees were welcomed by Greensburg CMBC Chairman Boice Bailey.
