A state police fire marshal is investigating a fire Thursday evening at an abandoned house in Arnold.
Firefighters from Arnold, New Kensington and Lower Burrell responded to calls for a fire at 1931 Woodmont Ave. around 6:15 p.m.
No injuries were reported and no utilities were on in the two-story house with an insulbrick facade.
“It wasn’t a very big fire,” said Eric Gartley, fire chief of Arnold Volunteer Fire Company No. 2.
Gartley said there was smoke and a small amount of flames coming from the left side of the rear of the first floor.
Firefighters opened some walls and were able to get everything under control fairly quickly, the chief said.
Gartley declined to speculate on what caused the fire, but said the place was abandoned for several years.
Crews began to clear the area around 7 p.m.
