A valuable painting has been stolen, and the artist is dead.
Who dunnit?
Amateur sleuths can trek the streets of Greensburg and solve the crime during Westmoreland Community Action’s second annual “WHO DUNNIT?” event Saturday.
The story will unfold beginning at 11 a.m. at the scene of the crime — the Seton Hill University Performing Arts Center, 100 Harrison Ave., where players will register and receive an information packet.
Styled after the classic crime-solving game, Clue, the event turns the streets of Greensburg into a game board, and players trek from the performing arts center to gather clues at nine other downtown locations, where volunteers dressed in 1920s garb will facilitate the hunt.
“Put on your walking shoes,” said Toni Antonucci, WCA director of advancement and development. “Part of what this is about is to demonstrate that Greensburg really is a walkable town.”
The hunt for the perpetrator will take participants around downtown, as far south as Scott Electric Lighting Gallery at 450 S. Main St., and as far east as the Greensburg YMCA at 101 S. Maple Ave.
“You can talk to the actors at every stop,” Antonucci said. “There will be signs and clues at all locations, and 60 Minute Missions is providing puzzles to solve.”
The Greensburg ArtsWalk is scheduled for the same day, Antonucci said.
“Lots of folks are walking around, listening to music and taking in the art scene already. It’s the perfect mix,” she said.
“WHO DUNNIT?” will intersect with the ArtsWalk by stationing a vintage Model A and a clue in the Helman-Ghrist parking lot on North Main Street, site of the Westmoreland Cultural Trust’s activities.
Participants will be given a start time upon registration. Times will be staggered in 15-minute increments to prevent all players from arriving at clue stations at the same time.
The game should take about two hours to complete, Antonucci said. There is a cash prize for first place and also for the best-dressed team.
The cost is $30, or $10 for ages 6-12. Registration is available at eventbrite.com or on Westmoreland Community Action’s Facebook page. Walk-ins are welcome.
