DeMarco, Mullin win contested Ross commissioner races, West View races uncontested

In the only contested races among candidates for the Ross Township Board of Commissioners, incumbents Daniel DeMarco and Patrick Mullin won their respective primary races.

With 100% of precincts reporting, DeMarco was the top vote getter among Democrats in Ward 1 with 354 votes to George D. Tunney’s 176. On the Republican side, 93 write-in votes were recorded. A possible challenger to DeMarco in the general election will be determined once those votes have been reviewed.

In Ward 7, Mullin received 354 votes to Christopher Davidson’s 114. Among Republicans there were 72 write-in votes. A possible challenger to Mullin in November will be determined once the votes are reviewed.

The Ward 3 race was uncontested with Sarah Poweska the only Democrat and no Republicans on the ballot.

In Ward 5, William A. McKellar was the only Democrat on the ballot. In November, he will face David Barkovich, who was the only Republican on the ballot.

The Ward 9 race was also uncontested. Democrat Zebulon E. Plotnick will face Republican Joe Muha in November.

West View races uncontested

The West View council race was uncontested.

Democrats Donald E. Mikec, Scott V. Miller and M. Kimberly Steele ran for three spots on the November ballot for a four-year term.

Eugene Borio was the only Democrat on the ballot for the two-year council term.

There were no Republicans on the ballot for either term.
