A slide has restricted traffic on a Plum road that is part of a detour for another road that’s closed while crews repair a slide.

PennDOT crews placed a temporary traffic signal on Leechburg Road near Elicker Road on Friday, PennDOT spokesman Steve Cowan said.

“A slide has developed on the downhill slope and is beginning to undermine the roadway,” he said.

Barricades have been placed around the slide, and the light limits traffic on the two-lane road to one lane at a time.

Leechburg Road is part of the posted detour for the closure of New Texas Road, between Old Leechburg Road and Rosemary Hill Drive, where crews from A. Liberoni Inc. are repairing a slide.

The closure of New Texas Road is expected to run through the end of June.

“The plan is once the work is done at New Texas, they will head to this location to conduct remediation work,” Cowan said.
