Shaler Area High School’s class of 2023 received their diplomas on June 2. During the ceremony at Titan Stadium, 291 students marched on to the next chapter in their lives.

“Your high school years were dramatically impacted by the covid-19 pandemic, resulting in school closures, cancellation of activities, and remote instruction,” principal Dr. Timothy Royall said during his commencement address. “You were left searching for a good rationale in the midst of an irrational medical crisis. It wasn’t your choice to stay at home, however, it became your choice how you would react to this challenging situation. At such a young age, you have shown positive characteristics that will be incredibly beneficial throughout your lifetime.”

In addition to Royall, speakers included Jacob Grabowski, class president; Raymond J. Wagner, class representative; and Isabella Drischler, summa cum laude, as well as superintendent Dr. Sean Aiken, and school board president Dr. April Kwiatkowski.
