A Tarentum man who has been a fugitive since 2020 was arrested Tuesday by Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office deputies, Sheriff Kevin M. Kraus said.
Jeffrey Shutak, 53, was charged in July 2019 after police responded to a domestic disturbance at his home, Kraus said.
Shutak faced charges of endangering the welfare of a child, simple assault, harassment and motor vehicle violations, court records show. He was arraigned on the charges Oct. 8, 2019.
Shutak’s son, who Kraus did not name, told law enforcement when they responded to the Freeport Road home that his father had assaulted him. Police observed “a number of injuries” on the son, Kraus said.
In June 2020, Shutak failed to attend a pretrial conference, Kraus said. District Judge Alexander P. Bicket then issued a warrant for his arrest.
On Tuesday morning, Sheriff’s Office detectives found Shutak at a Grantham Street home, Kraus said. He was arrested without incident and taken to Allegheny County Jail.
Court records on Tuesday did not reflect when his next hearing or pretrial conference will take place.
