Two Pittsburgh medical facilities are in the running for “America’s Most Beautiful Hospitals” contest.

The Children’s Home of Pittsburgh and UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, both situated along Penn Avenue, are among 50 hospitals nominated nationwide.

Sponsored by healthcare staffing firm Soliant, the contest runs through July 27.

Soliant plans to donate $5,000 to the winning hospital’s foundation.

The Children’s Home of Pittsburgh was nominated for its focus on children and families, according to Soliant. UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh is up for its bright, radiant colors that beam from the exterior, according to a news release.

“Hospital beauty is more than just its physical design and appearance — it is the healthcare staff who create the heart and soul of the hospital through genuine connections with patients,” Soliant CEO David Alexander said.

“This is a wonderful opportunity to showcase hospitals for their nurturing staff, comforting aesthetics and innovative designs, which contribute to the overall well-being of patients.”

The contest began in 2009. More than 150 hospitals have been recognized since then.

Winners will be announced Aug. 2.
