A woman went into labor while attending Picklesburgh over the weekend, according to the Pittsburgh Bureau of EMS.

EMS said they transported her to a nearby hospital. Her and the baby’s status is not known.

In a report Monday morning, the bureau said paramedics and EMTs helped a total of 33 people over the course of the well-attended food festival, which ran from Friday through Sunday. Among those people, 16 were taken to the hospital for additional care.

Patients were treated for “everything from heat exhaustion (to) falls, panic attacks, seizures, respiratory distress and intoxication,” the report said. Along with the pregnant patient, there was also one overdose.

Picklesburgh brought tens of thousands to its new location downtown over the weekend, setting a one-day attendance record Saturday, according to EMS.

The festival gathers enthusiasts to sample unusual pickle-themed snacks and drinks, ranging from alcohol to desserts to juice and more, and aims to celebrate the humble briny vegetable.

This year’s festival was moved downtown from its original location on the Rachel Carson Bridge to allow for extra space.
