1-year-old boy dies weeks after nearly drowning in Etna

A 1-year-old boy died two weeks after nearly drowning in Etna, the Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office reported.

Leo Garrison was reported to be unresponsive around 3:40 p.m. July 13 in the 100 block of Etna’s Sycamore Street, Allegheny County Police said.

First responders performed life-saving measures on the boy and he was hospitalized in critical condition, police said.

The boy was pronounced dead at the hospital just before 12:30 a.m. Thursday. The medical examiner’s office did not provide a cause or manner of death.
