A community bike run designed to showcase Sharpburg has been rescheduled.

The inaugural Tour de Sharpsburg was moved from July 29 to Sept. 16.

It’s organized by the Sharpsburg Community Library.

The run starts at 11 a.m. at the library, 1212 Main St. The route will likely be set the day of the free event.

Branch manager Sara Mariacher said the rescheduling was due to reported inclement weather.

The September date was chosen in large part due to tour guide James Graham, the library’s teen coordinator, being unavailable for most of August. Graham did not return multiple messages seeking comment by press time.

Online registration is expected to be reopened within a few weeks at coopersiegel.librarycalendar.com.

Mariacher said she hopes more people will get involved now that there is more time for folks to organize their schedules.

More information is available by visiting the library.

The library will provide a limited number of bikes and helmets for participants who don’t have them.
