Knitting Guild

Three Rivers Knitting Guild meets on the second Monday of every month at the Leetsdale Community Room in the Borough Building, 139 Broad Street. The meeting starts at 6:15 p.m. Attendees enjoy workshops, classes, show and tell, and just getting together with other knitters. West Point free dance showcase

The Lindsay Theater and Cultural Center will transform into a late summer night’s dance dream T 6 p.m. Aug. 11, as the West Point School of Classical Ballet presents its Summer Showcase of classical and contemporary works. About 30 students ranging in age from 10 to 18 will perform repertoire and original pieces they have learned over the summer. The free showcase typically draws a standing room crowd to The Lindsay as these talented young dancers deliver accomplished performances.

After their performance in the Theater’s Community Room, dancers will be available for Q&As or photos. The nonprofit Theater is located at 418 Walnut St. Sewickley; parking in the municipal lot adjacent to the Theater and on the street is free after 5 p.m. on weekdays.

Business Connection

Greater Pittsburgh Business Connection, a referral group of business professionals, will meet at the Eat N’ Park on Route 60 in Robinson Township for breakfast from 7:15-8:30 a.m. Aug. 16. Women’s Club of Sewickley

The Woman’s Club of Sewickley Valley is opening its season with the traditional Afternoon Tea on Aug. 21. The season includes some wonderful programs, great lunches and the opportunity to make new friends. The club meets at the Edgeworth Club, with lunch served at noon and the program to follow at 1 p.m. The Woman’s Club is not limited to Quaker Valley. RSVP to the Edgeworth Club, 412-741-8500, is required by the Friday before the program.

Senior men’s club

An affiliate of the Sewickley Valley YMCA, the Senior Men’s Club will host Jonathon Potts, vice president, communications of the Allegheny Airport Authority, who will talk about the terminal modernization project on Aug. 11. On Aug, 18, Chris Kubiak from the Audubon Society of Western Pennsylvania will discuss the declining bird population in Western Pa.
