A man wounded in a shooting Thursday in the Beechview neighborhood of Pittsburgh has died.

The victim, Carl J. Meyers, 21, of Pittsburgh, was taken from the scene to the UPMC Mercy emergency room and died two days later in the hospital, according to the Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Pittsburgh police said Meyers was critically wounded when he was found in a grassy area near a sidewalk after officers responded to the shooting reported at about 4 p.m. at Beechview and Broadway avenues.

Authorities haven’t released information about the circumstances leading to the shooting or details about a male suspect, whom police said remained at the scene, surrendered to authorities and was taken to police headquarters for questioning.

Police said they recovered a firearm and interviewed two witnesses.
