Edgeworth Elementary Home & School Association hosted its inaugural Fun Run this month to help raise money for student activities.
Student enrollment this school year is 418 and all of them participated in the Sept. 14 event.
They ran around, played games and interacted with various families and Quaker Valley School District staffers.
Many children wore blue and red shirts with the message “be the kind kid.”
Participants easily surpassed the goal of $25,000 and generated a total of $45,903.
Proceeds from the Fun Run will be used for field trips, assemblies, classroom enrichment, teacher appreciation and much more.
“I am so incredibly proud to be a part of the Edge community,” said fundraising committee co-chair Jena Simmons, mother to second-grader Monroe and first-grader Ana. “They embraced something new, and then made it more successful than I could have ever imagined.
“Of course our students and staff brought all the energy that day. The excitement on the field was contagious. We were overwhelmed with positive feedback and look forward to making the Fun Run an annual school tradition.”
Simmons was assisted by Donielle Neal, mother of second-grader Ellie.
The HSA is designed for families to deepen connections with the school and “make Edgeworth an awesome place to be through school events and enrichment activities,” according to the group’s Facebook page.
