Jeannette EMS seeks more time to file financial report in bankruptcy petition

Jeannette EMS Inc. has asked a federal judge for more time to file a detailed report on its financial affairs, according to court documents.
The ambulance service, which closed down in July, asked U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Carlota Bohm in a court filing Wednesday to grant an extension on the filing deadline until Monday.
Kathryn L. Harrison, a Pittsburgh attorney representing Jeannette EMS, said in the filing that the ambulance service’s former employees need more time to file the required papers and its volunteer board of directors also have other obligations, in addition to their duties to the ambulance service. The judge had previously approved an extension from Oct. 11 to Wednesday.
Jeannette E.M.S. filed to liquidate its assets under Chapter 7 of the bankruptcy code on Sept. 11. The ambulance service’s board of directors did approve a resolution on July 28 to file a Chapter 11 bankruptcy petition, which would have allowed it to reorganize its finances while receiving protection from creditors.
Mutual Aid Ambulance Service in Greensburg is providing ambulance service to Jeannette as a result of the Jeannette EMS closing its operations.
