Now that the school board races are behind us, I am writing this letter of support for the Quaker Valley educators, who are negotiating a contract with the QV administration and school board.

My daughters’ experiences within the school have been nothing less than remarkable, and it continues to get better by the year. During our elementary run, teachers have had to pivot between in-person and online education due to the pandemic. They handled the uncertainty and chaos with professionalism, consistency and kindness, and continued to provide an amazing education in lousy circumstances. When we have encountered an issue or a special need, the teachers and staff have stepped up to get us to a sound resolution.

Currently, and without a contract, the teachers and educational staff host incredible before- and after-school programming. Students are participating in news crew, American Sign Language, fitness club, Clay Café Club, Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), the Community Read Aloud, and so much more. And again, they are doing this without a contract, but with warmth and giant smiles.

Let’s go Dr. Andreyko, Dr. Surloff, who just received a new contract early, and the QV School Board! The QV educators, the most valuable resources in this district, make you all look really good. It’s time to step up and pay them what they deserve.
