Wreaths delivered for placement at North Huntingdon, Jeannette cemeteries

The North Huntingdon chapter of Wreaths Across America will place 3,125 wreaths Saturday on the graves of veterans buried in Union Cemetery in Irwin and Penn Lincoln Memorial Park, Long Run Presbyterian Cemetery, Brush Creek Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church Cemetery and Immaculate Conception Church Cemetery.

The wreathes were delivered Friday for distribution at the cemeteries.

Prior to volunteers placing wreaths on the graves of veterans, a ceremony to recognize all of the branches of the military is planned for noon Saturday at the memorial at Union Cemetery, said Wendy Waugh, coordinator for the North Huntingdon chapter of Wreaths Across America.

The Jeannette Veterans of Foreign Wars post will place 1,856 wreaths Saturday on the graves of veterans at five cemeteries, said Frank Drury, coordinator for Jeannette’s Wreaths Across America chapter.

Beginning at 8 a.m. Saturday, wreaths will be placed at the Harrison City Presbyterian Church; St. Boniface/St. Michael’s Cemetery in Hempfield; Sacred Heart Cemetery in Penn Township; Jeannette Memorial Park on Altman Road; and Sacred Heart Cemetery, Route 30 and Possum Hollow Road.
