Alle-Kiski Valley residents who need help with income taxes, state-issued licenses or notary services will have a one-stop shop in Tarentum.

State Rep. Mandy Steele, D-Fox Chapel, is opening a satellite office along Corbet Street in an effort to be more accessible to residents.

The office will be inside the Murphy Building. Office hours will befrom 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays.

It’s expected to open in January.

“It’s good news for residents who will be able to get help addressing needs,” Borough Manager Dwight Boddorf said.

Steele’s office director, Jess Baker, said the location was chosen because it’s in the heart of a “newly revitalized downtown Tarentum.”

Among the services that Steele’s staff will be available to help with include unemployment compensation issues, property tax/rent rebates, voter registration, food stamps, vehicle services, birth certificates, handicapped placards and PACE cards.

Steele represents state House’s 33rd District, which includes municipalities from Harrison to Aspinwall.

Her office headquarters are along Pittsburgh Street in Cheswick.

She also is hoping to open a third location to serve residents of the Lower Valley.

“We are actively looking for a location in Sharpsburg,” Baker said. “We have been in contact with Mayor Brittany Reno and Borough Manager Christine DeRunk, who are both excited at the prospect of having a state representative’s office located in the lower part of the 33rd.”

The Tarentum office’s opening will be announced by mail and by robocall.

An open house will be scheduled in the coming weeks.
