Two Michigan men are in the Allegheny County Jail after Pittsburgh police say they delivered “pounds” of marijuana to a South Side Flats home in exchange for more than $60,000.
An officer reported seeing Andre Larone Tucker, 48, and Jaylin Malakhi Jackson, 18, both of the St. Louis, Mich., area, sitting in an SUV with Michigan plates for an hour in the 100 block of South 24th Street around 5 p.m. Wednesday, according to a criminal complaint.
They were seen taking two large trash bags into a residence and leaving four-to-five minutes later with a duffle bag.
When police pulled over the SUV driven by Tucker, detectives noticed a strong odor of fresh marijuana coming from inside the vehicle, according to the complaint. A clear plastic bag of marijuana was found under the passenger seat.
Police said a large amount of money was found inside the duffle bag, and that Tucker confirmed it came from a narcotics transaction at the South 24th Street residence.
Police said Tucker identified the buyer of the marijuana. No charges could be found against that person Friday morning.
An official count of the money seized came to $60,560, the complaint states.
Police obtained a search warrant for the South 24th Street residence. The two garbage bags Tucker and Jackson were seen carrying in were found, according the complaint. Inside the bags were “pounds” of marijuana; an exact weight was not given in the complaint.
Tucker and Jackson were denied bail when they were arraigned Thursday. Their preliminary hearings are scheduled for June 5.
