Families from Fox Chapel and surrounding communities flocked to the borough’s McCahill Park for the annual Fox Chapel Day presented by the police department.

Emergency responders had their vehicles out for families to explore. Multiple vendors offered something for everyone.

Police Chief Michael Stevens said the June 15 celebration was one of the best events in recent memory.

“The weather was beautiful for the Fox Chapel Day,” the chief said via email. “It was a fantastic turnout with approximately 600 to 700 people. DJ Joe was spinning the tunes while Weird Eric was making balloon characters. Barn Yard Buddies provided a petting zoo that featured a baby camel.

“The big kids at Fox Chapel Day were able to sit in and dream about owning a new 2024 Chevy Corvette provided by Jim Shorkey Chevrolet. Various local organizations had tents present to educate and highlight their missions.”

Other activities included an inflatable rock-climbing wall with a 40-foot slide, train rides, spin art, a live beehive manned by Beekeeper Joe.

Several carnival games were available with various prizes for the kids.

The Pennsylvania Game Commission provided educational facts and displayed several furbearer pelts.

The Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office gave tours of its armored vehicle.

Food was served by Steer and Wheel, Zoup and Really Good Cookies.

Dollar Bank, Pittsburgh Field Club, S&T Bank, Jim Shorkey Auto Group, Howard Hanna, The District Association, FMS Construction and Fazio Mechanical Services were the major sponsors of the event.
