P-R Hall of Fame
The Pine-Richland Athletic Hall of Fame Committee announces the sixth annual Athletic Hall of Fame class of inductees.
The honor recognizes those associated with Pine-Richland athletics who have experienced significant accomplishments in their chosen sport or sports.
In June, the selection committee met to review the submitted nominations. Based on Hall of Fame bylaws, five nominees and one team were selected to be inducted into the 2024 class:
• John Falvo, Class of 1976 — football, wrestling, track and field
• Scott Heim, Class of 1985 — wrestling
• Dale Mollenhauer, Class of 2004 — baseball
• Jamel Nicholas, Class of 2006 — volleyball
• Roger Price, Class of 1967 — football, basketball, track and field
• 2005 Pine-Richland High School girls volleyball team
The inductees will be recognized at 6:45 p.m. Oct. 4, prior to the Pine-Richland High School home football game. The banquet celebration will be held at 6 p.m. Oct. 5 in the high school cafeteria.
Movie in Richland park
The 2023 animated comedy “Migration” will be shown for the next Movies in the Park event, starting at dusk on July 25 at Richland Township Community Park.
Bring your lawn chair or beach blanket for the free event. If it rains, Movies in the Park will be cancelled.
The series of family-friendly movies is sponsored by Armstrong Cable.
Event benefits wrestlers
Pine-Richland Wrestling’s fourth annual Cornhole Tournament will be held at 11 a.m. Aug. 3rd at Windwood Park, 903 Lake Road, Marshall.
Register your 2-person team for $50 and enjoy a day of fun, food and friendly competition. Guests are invited, at no fee, to watch the action, take part in a basket auction, and enjoy food and good music.
All proceeds benefit the girls and boys junior high and varsity wrestling programs. For more information and to register, visit www.pinerichlandwrestlingboosters.com.
St. Barnabas hosts 5K
St. Barnabas Charities will host its 33rd annual Free Care 5K on Aug. 3 presented by CIBC Bank USA.
The race will begin at 9 a.m. at the St. Barnabas Gibsonia campus on Meridian Road in Richland. Everyone is invited to run or walk.
Proceeds support the St. Barnabas Free Care Fund, which affords $6 million in care to patients and residents each year.
Competitive and amateur runners, joggers, walkers, teams, stroller pushers and wheelchair racers of all ages can enjoy a rolling 3.1-mile course. A post-race party will be featuring raffle prizes, food and an awards ceremony.

Outdoor concert series
Highpointe at Rebecca is hosting a free summer concert series at 1871 Highpointe Lane, West Deer.
The concerts will be held in our outdoor courtyard, weather permitting, or indoors if necessary. Tours of the campus will be available for an hour before each performance. Scheduled to perform are:
• John Patrick Heiserman, 2 to 3 p.m. July 18, First influenced by the music of the 1960s, Heiserman now performs music from many genres, from the Classical Era to the 1920s to today. He plays guitar, sings and tells stories during his show.
• The Highlife Band, 2 to 3 p.m. Aug. 15. Playing together for over a decade, the HighLife Band takes audiences on a journey through well-known songs of the ’60s and ’70s all the way up to today. Enjoy music from the Beatles, Rolling Stones, Bob Seger, Tom Petty and more.
• Miss Freddye’s Homecookin’ Band, 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Sept. 27. The award-winning singer will perform a diverse musical repertoire, including blues, gospel, rock and a touch of country and bluegrass. She will be accompanied by her acoustic band.

Farm-to-Fork series continues
Chatham University’s Farm to Fork dinner series at Eden Hall Campus continues each Thursday throughout the summer each week through August.
The Farm-to-Fork events will occur rain or shine from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Thursdays at Chatham University’s Eden Hall Campus in Richland.
Chefs from Parkhurst Dining will create dishes utilizing produce from Eden Hall’s farm and other local vendors.
Attendees can dine in and enjoy their meal at the barn or Eden Hall’s outdoor setting or takeout. While at Eden Hall, visitors can explore the campus, charge an electric vehicle at the new EV charging station, or go for an after-dinner hike on the trail network.
Richland ’74 reunion
The 50th-anniversary reunion of the Richland High School Class of 1974 is scheduled for Oct. 5 in Cranberry.
