The Buffalo Township supervisors have set up a busy night for themselves on Sept. 11.

In addition to their normally scheduled meeting at 7:30 p.m., the supervisors will conduct three hearings. Two have been set for 7 p.m. and deal with the adoption of ordinances.

One of those ordinance addresses regulating solar energy systems.

Supervisor Ron Zampogna said the ordinance is broad-based and encompasses solar energy generation for residences and commercial solar energy farms.

The second ordinance is aimed at reining in disruptive properties.

Zampogna said the properties in question are those where residents cause emergency service personnel, such as police and firefighters, to be summoned repeatedly for minor disputes or false alarms.

Under such ordinances, the property owner is held responsible after a certain number of incidents occurs within a specified time period, leading to citations and fines.

Solicitor Brian Farrington said both of those hearings should be short, which enabled them to be scheduled at the same time.

The third hearing, scheduled for 7:15 p.m., deals with a conditional use request for a nearly 28-acre farm property at 299 Sarver Road.

Nicole and Greg Kuniak have proposed replacing a current 36-by-61-foot metal farm shed on the property with a 30-by-60-foot metal building. The new building would house a commercial dog kennel to include indoor and outdoor runs and fenced-in areas.

The Kuniaks’ plan calls for the building to have its own well, septic system and electric system. They have no plans for full-time employees but said a few people could be hired to work during the summer.
